Melissa St. Denis - Trauma Therapist and Clinical Social Worker serving St. Albert, Morinville, and Greater Edmonton

Melissa St. Denis

Social Worker in Clinical Practice (MSW, RSW)

Expert in trauma, PTSD & military mental health. Science-based clinician with advanced specialized training.

Melissa is deeply committed to evidence-based practice and is known for her ability to balance compassion with meaningful accountability. Her therapeutic style combines warmth, authenticity, and humour with a goal- and values-oriented approach, creating a collaborative space where clients feel both supported and appropriately challenged to move toward lasting change.

With more than 16 years of experience, Melissa has developed particular expertise in helping clients understand and effectively navigate anxiety in its many forms. She works with individuals experiencing chronic worry, panic, perfectionism, overthinking, people-pleasing, and the physiological impact of prolonged stress, helping them develop practical skills while addressing the underlying factors that maintain anxiety over time. Melissa also specializes in the treatment of trauma, PTSD, and other Operational Stress Injuries, with extensive experience supporting active serving military members, veterans, first responders, and their families, recognizing the unique demands and complexities these professions can place on individuals and relationships. Melissa routinely works with clients navigating high-stakes stressors, including acute burnout, organizational trauma, domestic violence, and the cumulative effects of chronic occupational stress.

In addition to anxiety and trauma-focused work, Melissa helps clients address people-pleasing, perfectionism, and the pressures often experienced by high achievers. Her holistic and client-centred approach provides space to process life transitions, relationship strain, interpersonal and workplace challenges, stress management, and grief. Above all, Melissa believes that meaningful change happens through a strong therapeutic relationship—one where clients feel understood, empowered, and equipped to build on their existing strengths.
