Mindfulness &
Nature-Assisted Therapy
"Grounding Yourself in the Natural World"
What is Mindfulness & Nature Therapy?
In our fast-paced, digital world, our nervous systems are often in a state of "overdrive." Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment, on purpose and without judgment. Nature-Assisted Therapy (sometimes called Ecotherapy) takes this a step further by using the outdoors as a "co-therapist." It recognizes that humans have a deep, biological need to connect with the environment to regulate their emotions.
How Does it Work at mind360?
We integrate these practices both in our office and, where appropriate, through outdoor sessions or grounding exercises.
- Anchoring: We teach you how to use your five senses to anchor yourself when your mind starts to spiral.
- The Healing Power of Nature: Research shows that even looking at nature—or better yet, being in it—lowers cortisol (the stress hormone) and improves mood. We might use walks, outdoor mindfulness, or natural metaphors to help you process your experiences.
- Regulation Skills: You will learn "on-the-go" techniques to slow down your heart rate and quiet your "inner critic" using the environment around you.
Who Can Benefit?
- High-Stress Professionals: Who need to "unplug" and find a sense of calm.
- ADHD & Focus Issues: Using nature and mindfulness to improve attention and reduce impulsivity.
- Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Using environmental connection to boost mood during long winters.
- Burnout & Fatigue: Restoring the "mental battery" that has been drained by screens and schedules.
